We were assigned to read a book. This is a small update
For my independent reading, I chose to read the latest book in the "Heroes of Olympus" series, "Blood of Olympus". I am rather proud to say that I finished the book within three days since the assignment was given. I really enjoyed the book, but the ending was lacking a bit more oomph. I was expecting something that would make me go "Oh My God! Did that really just happen?!" But I ended up more like "woo, another happy ending".
For those of you who don't know, "Blood of Olympus" uses 7 main characters on a long journey. There's the good old Percy and Annabeth, as well as 5 new characters new to this series. They are all demigods, children of different gods. But, for some reason, every single one of them has an ability out of the ordinary, even for demigod standards. Hazel, daughter of Pluto, has power over gems and metals (as opposed to the usual dead people). Piper, daughter of Aphrodite can use charm speak to convince people to do stuff. Frank, son of Mars, can shapeshift, but his soul is bound to a piece of wood. Leo, son of Hephaestus, who can control fire. And Jason, a son of Jupiter (which is pretty rare itself). They all become good friends and a powerful team. Which makes it a shame that they are almost always separated into smaller teams. Overall, I really liked this book series, but my favorite was most definitely "The House of Hades".
